The Black Owl Scandal
After finishing the regular season at 7-5, the
third place Owls entered the playoffs missing 2 of its regulars.
Forced to use 2 long-time MAMAC players Terry Joggerst and Gary Dinardo
as last minute subs, the Owl dominated first place Renegades 15-3 and second
place Shafer Bus 9-4 in a rare playoff doubleheader. After the losses
the defeated teams compared scorebooks and discovered that neither Terry
nor Gary had played the required 3 regular season games to qualify for
the playoffs. Despite neither player being a factor in the victories,
the Owls were disqualified and their title stripped from them.
